Nutri+BMR Sorghum-Sudangrass
A highly productive annual forage with the brown mid-rib trait that, when expressed in a plant, relates to lower lignin and higher digestibility. The BMR trait results in greater animal performance than traditional sorghum-sudangrasses.

Physical Characteristics: 5 to 7 foot tall warm season annual sorghum-Sudangrass with distinctive brown mid-rib in the leaf and other plant parts. Brown mid-rib trait relates to lower lignin in plant, which indicates higher digestibility.

Growth Characteristics: Fast early growth with warm soil temperatures and rapid regrowth when clipped or grazed to 6 inches.

Maturity: Medium maturity, ready to cut or graze in approximately 45 days with potential of 4 cuttings.

Disease Tolerance: Diseases are not normally a problem.

Insect Tolerance: Susceptible to armyworms.

Drought Tolerance: Very drought tolerant.

Planting Requirements: When soil temperatures reach 65° to 70° Fahrenheit, plant in a well-prepared seedbed no deeper than 0.5 to 1 inch.

Seeding Requirements: Drill 30 to 50 lbs./acre or broadcast 50 lbs.+/acre. Higher seeding rates will result in finer stems.

Soil and Nutrient Requirements: Soil suited for corn or soybeans is suited for Sudans and sorghum-sudangrasses. Fertilize as you would for a 150 to 200 bu. corn crop splitting nitrogen applications between cuttings to stimulate regrowth.

Harvesting Tips: For best results when grazing, make three to four plantings 10 to 14 days apart, and rotationally graze to keep forage at maximum quality. Start grazing at 24 inches, leaving 6 inches to stimulate faster regrowth. Cut for hay at 30 inches, leaving 6 inches. Use a hay conditioner for faster drying.

Drystalk BMR Sorghum-Sudangrass
Sorghum X Sudangrass Hybrid suitable for hay, silage, haylage and grazing. Drystalk BMR should be earlier, have a finer stem and drier than Nuti+Plus BMR. Drystalk BMR is the best choice for hay and considered for silage when dry-down is a factor.

Physical Characteristics: A highly productive summer annual with the brown mid-rib trait along with the drystalk characteristic.  The drystalk trait relates to the curing process, which means quicker dry down than either Nutri+Plus or traditional sorghum-Sudans when harvested as hay.

Growth Characteristics: Fast, early growth with excellent recovery after harvest when cut or grazed no shorter than 6 inches. Exhibits heavy tillering of a grassy type plant.

Maturity: Early maturity with first harvest in approximately 45 days with 2 to 4 cuttings per season.

Disease Tolerance: Diseases are normally not a problem.

Insect Tolerance: Insect damage is seldom a problem.

Drought Tolerance: Excellent.

Planting Requirements: Soil temperature needs to be at least 65° Fahrenheit, plant in a well-prepared seed bed no deeper than 1/2 to 1 inch deep.

Seeding Requirements: Drill 30 to 50 lbs./acre or broadcast 50 lbs.+/acre.

Soil and Nutrient Requirements: Deep, fertile soils are best for top production. Apply phosphorus and potassium as you would for 150 to 200 bu. corn. Apply 50 lbs. of nitrogen with the phosphorous and potassium at planting with an additional 50 lbs. of nitrogen after each harvesting.

Harvesting Tips: Start grazing at 24 inches, leaving 6 inches to stimulate faster regrowth. Cut for hay at 30 inches, leaving 6 inches. Use a hay conditioner for faster drying.

Red+Top Plus BMR
Amale sterile Sorghum X Sweet Sorghum also known as Cane Forage Sorghum.

Physical Characteristics: 6 to 9 feet tall plant with the distinctive brown mid-rib trait, which relates to lower lignin in the plant that correlates to higher digestibility.

Growth Characteristics: Has little or no grain set, which keeps more nutrients in the stalk and avoids volunteer seed the following year. Very high forage quality and probably the best BMR for grazing. Standability is excellent.

Maturity: Medium maturity, ready to graze at 24 to 30 inches, slightly less regrowth capabilities than other BMRs.

Disease Tolerance: Tolerance to powdery mildew.

Insect Tolerance: Insects are seldom a problem with the exception of armyworms.

Drought Tolerance: Very good drought tolerance.

Planting Requirements: Soil temperature needs to be a minimum of 65° before planting in a well-prepared seedbed no deeper than 1 inch.

Seeding Requirements: 30-inch rows plant 5-7 lbs., drill 15-20 lbs. or broadcast 20-50 lbs/acre.

Soil & Nutrient Requirements: Soil suited for corn or soybeans is suited for sudangrass and sorghum-sudangrasses. Fertilize as you would for a 150 to 200 bu. corn crop, splitting nitrogen applications between each cutting to stimulate regrowth.

Harvesting Tips: When harvesting for silage, chop at late dough stage. When harvesting for hay, cut at early boot or late flag leaf stage.

Forage Master 120 Hybrid Sudangrass
The best choice for hay or pasture during dry periods when abundant forage is needed. This early maturing Sudangrass exhibits fast growth and regrowth with less danger of prussic acid poisoning than with sorghum-Sudans.

Physical Characteristics: An annual warm season grass with an erect growth habit. A very leafy, fine-stemmed hybrid Sudangrass that grows to a mature height of 5 to 7 feet.

Growth Characteristics: Fast emerging with fast regrowth after harvest.

Maturity: Early maturing and ready for harvest about 40 days after planting and again every 35 days under proper conditions.

Disease Tolerance: Leaf blight resistance.

Insect Tolerance: Susceptible to fall armyworms.

Drought Tolerance: Excellent.

Planting Requirements: Plant when soil temperature reaches 70° F, 0.5 to 1 inch deep in a well prepared seedbed for best results.

Seeding Requirements: Seeds are drilled at 20 to 30 lbs./acre or broadcast at 30 to 45 lbs./acre. The heavier the seeding rate, the finer the stem.

Soil and Nutrient Requirements: Deep fertile soils are necessary for top production. Apply phosphorous and potassium at the same rate you would to grow 150 to 200 bu. corn. Apply 50 lbs. of nitrogen along with phosphorus and potassium. Add an additional 50 lbs. of nitrogen after each cutting to stimulate regrowth.

Harvesting Tips: Rotational grazing is recommended and the best method is to make three or four plantings 10 to 14 days apart and rotate cattle as forage matures to maintain quality. Start grazing when forage is 20 inches tall and leave 6 inches before rotating. Clip grazed forage to 6 inches to provide uniform, fast regrowth.
